NEW ZEALAND YACHT SQUADRON. A meeting of the committee of tho NewZealand Yacht Squadron was held in tho club rooms, Palmerston Buildings, last night. There was a full attendance, and the commodore (Mr. C. F. Murdoch) presided. The opening of tho season was fixed for November 9, the programme of proceedings to bo arranged. The programme of races »or tho season and the prizes were fixed as foiDecember 7- Class C (36-footers): First prize, £10; second prize, £3. Class D vsUfooters): First prize, £5; second prize, i,i. Class E (25-footers): First prize, £6; second prize, £2. Class F (18-footers): First puxe, £3; second prize, £2. January 11 and February 8: Handicap Ocean Race (destination to be fixed by the Sailing Committee). First prize, £6; second £2 10s; third, £1 in each race. March 8: Open Handicap Race for 35-footers and over and under 36ft Just prize, for 36-footers, £7; second, £3 lUs; third, £1. Under 56ft: First prize, i 5; second, £2; third, £1. . Tho entrance fee for each event was fixed at five per cent, on the amount of the first prize in each.race. . . It was decided to hold the annual picnic on January 18, the destination to bo left open in tho meantime. „,-,«, The first club cruise was fixed for February 22 the destination to be signalled from the commodore's yacht on the day of the cruise. It was decided to compile a Squadron Pilot Book, giving particulars as to the bays and other places usually visited by yachtsmen: and members are to be requested when away cruising to take any notes 01 interest and hand them into the club to assist in compiling tho work.

NORTHERN ROWING UNION. Afc a meeting of the Northern Bowing Union .held last night it was decided to open the rowing season at three o'clock next Saturday afternoon. A procession of boats will leave the Queen-street Wharf at the appointed hour, and proceed up the harbour round the coal hulks, finishing off She Railway Wharf. It was also resolved to hold the: Mercer Regatta this year the probable dates being November 30 and December U.
