ONGARUHE CRICKET CLUB. The cricket season was opened in the King Country last Saturday by a match Between the married and single members oi the Ongaruhe Cricket Club. The match was played at Ongaruhe, play starting at two o'clock. The bachelors went to the wickets first, and, thanks to Hicks (77), Frankham (44), and Mckenzie (29), they totalled W runs. An adjournment for afternoon tea, kindly supplied and dispensed by the Ongaruhe ladies, prefaced the innings of the Benedicts. Their stay at the wickets was no. of long duration, as the bowling of BGale and Hicks was far too deadly, and their last wicket fell with the total at 75—8e1l (10) and Hunt (9) being the largest contributors. In their second innings the EinglO men made 80 for the loss of sue wicxets before stumps were drawn, Mckenzie \»i and MeKcnzie (13) being responsible, for tho score. The game thus resulted in » win for the bachelors by 120 runs. During the evening the resident members of Ongaruhe entertained their visitors in Mr. H. Hunt's hall, which he kindly placed at their disposal, and a very pleasant social evening was enjoyed by both teams.
