THE WAIHI BAND.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,Re your recent sub-loader on "BandPlaying in Public," and your reference to the. Auckland Band Association, the following facts may be of interest as showing the attitude of the Wnihi Band in this connection : —When the said band association was first formed, the Waihi Band was well, represented, and the following Waihi gentlemen elected vice-presidents: Messrs. W. H. Phillips, W. Corbett, and T. Mellor. Some time after this the Waihi Brass Band sent a delegate to Auckland at considerable expense, but, as the association was (and is still, I believe), in an embryonic state, tho rules governing the constitution not having been received, no practical steps could bo taken to carry out tho anticipated work. The feeling here is that no matter how small the prize might be, if tho Auckland Band Association would only wake up and organise a brass band contest, Waihi would be there to face the music without the slightest hesitation.— am, etc.. Waihi. C. Sharp.
