CONFERENCE OF SAW MILLERS
[by telegraph.— association.] • Palmerston North, Thursday. The conference of sawmiilers from Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa, and Manawtau districts, with timber, merchants from Wellington City, was held here yesterday, the object of the conference being to arrange scales of prices which would be satisfactory to millers, merchants, builders, and contractors. A sub-committee was appointed to arrange rices as between millers and merchants, it eing agreed by both that so far as the consumer was concerned no alteration of existing rates would be made for at least three months. The conference also discussed affairs connected with the Arbitration Court business and Workers' Compensation Act, and it is likely that a combination for mutual benefit will result.
