ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES
CHARGE AGAINST AN AUCTIONEER. At yesterday's sitting of the Police Court. dames A. Gorrie, well known in the city as an auctioneer, was charged with having, on December 29 of hist year, obtained £35 from one George Turk, by means of false protences. Defendant did not appear in answer to the charge, and it was stated that, ho had probably left Auckland on Monday for Sydney by the Waikare.
On (ho ease being called yesterday morning Mr. McGregor (instructed by Mr. Neumegan) appeared on behalf of the informant, .nd stated* thr.t there, were other charges pending against Gorrie. and he asked for a warrant to be issued for his arrest. The warrant was subsequently issued, and also a warrant on a fresh information.
