AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

THE ROYAL RECEPTION. A MAGNIFICENT PUBLICATION. HISTORICAL PICTURES. AUCKLAND'S ROYAL RECEPTION. SPLENDID ILLUSTRATED PROCESSION. OVER 60 LARGE PICTURES. Scarcely any previous number of the Auckland Weekly News has possessed so much sterling interest as the present issue. The magnificent functions connected with fcbjp visit of Royalty to New Zealand, and the fact that Auckland was the first city to receive the country's Royal guests, and that practically the nation's welcome was offered here, has given scope for brilliant illustrations. Nearly 60 pictures, many of half-page and full-page size, show the whole sequence of the Royal reception. The idea has been not to givo mere snapshots of the Royal visitors, such as can be given by any paper in the world, but to present the distinctive features of the event in their widest and fullest significance. This has beendone so thoroughly that the main features could be seen and appreciated a hundred years hence, or by people in any part of the world. One sees the Royal yacht Ophir steaming up the beautiful Waitemata with her Royal guard of warships, and the Duke and Duchess making their first landing in this country. They are shown in the Royal carriage as it moves up Queen-street Wharf, and then the whole series of impressive and historical scenes are given ; the venerable j Mayor and pioneer citizen, Dr. Logan ; Camp-hell, presenting the address of the city to the Royal visitors ; His Excellency Lord Ranfurly reading the proclamation extending the boundaries of New Zealand to in- j elude the Cook Islands, and then the stately procession through the city, showing the. decorations and such striking spectacles as the living Union Jack, composed of school children ; the archways, erected by the civic bodies, and the crowds that gathered at the various points of vantage. The whole sequence of the procession is given, with the Diiku and Duchess as its central figures, from the landing at the wharf to the entry into Government Douse grounds. Resides the panorama of pictures there is a graphical!;.' written description of the whole proceedings, including many valuable historical notes, such as have not before been published. Besides the complete illustration of Auckland's Royal reception ceremonies, there nee a number of pictures showing the various parties of -Maoris practising hakas for the Rotoiua ceremony, together with several other highly interesting illustrations. The whole number is specially valuable for its great historical interest, and no New Zcalander .should miss obtaining such a complete souvenir of the greatest and most picturesque event which has ever taken place in this country. The AVkKKi.y News is now on sale, and can be obtained from all agents and runners.
