INANIMATE PIGEON SHOOTING

On Saturday afternoon a match toolc plac<3 at the grounds of the New Zealand Inauimato Pigeon Shooting Association, Epsom, for tho " Ballistito" Cup. Owing to the holiday season and counter attraetions, the attendance was limitcd, and, only tw.o teama compøled. Tlicro was a pretty stift' brcezo most of the afternoon, the birds proving very tricky, and it was probably on this, account that the shooting was so much bclow the average.:: The conditions tmder whieh this cup is shot for are, that it bo won twico in succession or three times at intervals, by teama of Sve, each shooter to fire at 30 birds. Thi«' was the second competition; on the tirst occasion the Eden Club wc re the winnora, and on - Saturday tira Northern secured a viotory, beating their opponcnts by on« pcint. A sweepstake, run in conjunction -with the match, was divided between Messrs. Noakfis, Strathern and Grayson in the order named. Another sweepstake was won by Mr. Grayson, with Mr. Noakes second. The "Repantrap" (an automatic machine) was used part of the afternoon, ; arid was voted the very best thing of the kind yet produced. It does the work of about , 15 of the old single traps, and gives a great variety of angles. As referee, Mr. J. K, Walters gave every satisfaction. friends kindly provided afternoon tea, which was much' appreciated.
