BILLIARDS.
The first match arranged by Messrs. P.-. H. Weiss, Australasian champion, and C. Memmott, the Australian billiardist, was' played at the Metropolitan Hotel saloon last evening, when Mr. Weiss met and defeated Mr. Lovelock, conceding his opponent 475 points in 750 up. The Australia*!, though \ not seen at his best, succeeded in compiling several very serviceable breaks, his best effort of the evening being 104. while other leading. breaks were: 81, 61, and 55, the greater part "~ being scored-about the top end of the table. Weiss completed his game with an unfinished break, when Lovelock's score stood at 643. The game was played en a Barton and MaoGill table, specially put up for the purpose. To-night Mr. Memmott moots Mr. W. Lyons in a, game of 750 up, conceding 400 points start. Spectator.-? should witness another very interesting game. To-morrow' afternoon Messrs. Weiss and Memmott commence a game of .1500 up., , - , '. "' ■ ■
