"ft AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. There was a fair amount of business transacted on the Exchange yesterday. In investment lines, New Zealand Insurances sold at 68s, with buyers left at that price, sellers 695. Devonport Steam Ferrys changed hands at 35s 6d, late buyers offering 355, sellers asking 375. National Banks had inquiry a* 695, ; and Auckland Gas (new, £4 issue) at £10 15s, no sellers quoting. Other stocks had fair demand. In mining lines, Upper. Thames stocks were chiefly wanted. Komata Reefs were firmer, with sales at 3s Id, 3s 2d, and 3s 3d, sellers closing at 3s 4d, buyers 3s 2d. Business in Waihi lines became brisk at the last call, especially in Waihi Extendeds, sellers of which rapidly advanced prices, sales taking place at 3s 2d, 3s 3d, 3s 6d, 3s Bd, 3s 9d, 3s lid, and 4s, the market closing with more buyers at 4s, sellers ss. Waihi Consolidateds also firmed, with sales at Is sd, Is 6d, Is 7d, and 2s, late sellers asking 2s 3d, with buyers at Is lOd. Pride of Waihis were done at 6d and 6£d, more being looked for at 6d, sellers 7d. Waihi Souths sold at 9d, closing with sellers at 9£d,' buyers B£d. Talisman Consolidateds were held at 265, with buyers offering 245. Waihis had sellers at £10 15s, and Waitekauris at 20s, without buyers. In Coromandel and other lines late prices ruled.

MANANU G.M. CO. £492 FROM 198 TONS. TOTAL TO DATE, £4781. During the month of February the Mananu Gold Mining Company crushed and treated , at their battery, at Wkangamata, 198 tons of ore, for a return of bullion valued at £492 4s 7d, of which amount the plates yielded £116 lis 7d, and the cyanide plant £375 13s. The return is not quite complete, there being 15 tons of cyanide solution remaining unprecipitated. The present yield gives an average extraction per ton, so far a's completed, of £2 9s 9d, the assay value of the ore before treatment being £3 9s 7d per ton. The total amount won from this mine to date is £4781 2s 3d, as shown in the following table of details: — In 1900-1162 tons £3,841 3 1 January. 1901-152 tons 447 14 7 February, 1901-198 tons 492 4 7 Total to date £4,781 2 3 BUNKER'S HILL G.M. CO. In the Bunker's Hill Gold Mining Company's mine, at Coromandel. colours of gold continue to be won from both faces in operation upon No. 1 reef. The quartz looks well, and gives promise of producing picked stone at any breaking down. Fifty pounds of stone were treated at the public battery last week, resulting in a return of 340z of retorted gold. BROKEN HILL G.M. CO In the Broken Hill Gold Mining Company's mine, at Waiomo, the drive is now in a total of 56ft. Of this distance 44ft have been timbered and slabbed with 11 sets. Rails are laid from the face to the tiphead, and foot-boards laid from the mouth of the drive to the face. The smithy has been taken down from No. 3 level, and reerected at the low level. BULLION SHIPMENT. The Waihi Gold Mining Company shipped to Sydney by the Elingamite yesterday, for transhipment to London, six bars of bullion, valued at £6600. The National Bank of New Zealand also shipped by the same steamer two boxes of bullion valued at £4650. DREDGING. [BY TELEGRArH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dttnedin, Monday. . The returns from'the Bendigo (Victoria) field for the past two months are the lowest' for six years. The total for January and February of this year is 26,7490z, as against the following comparisons: 1896, 29,1260z ; 1897. 28,5380z; 1898. 31,8240z; 1899, 31.7340z: and 1900, 29,5440z. The West Australia output for February was 135,4970z, being a decrease of 32000z on the. January yield of .this year. As against the return for February, 1900, the last month's return gives an increase of 17.6480z. . There was an appreciable increase m the output of gold in Queensland for February, as compared with the January return, the figures being: January, 50,2960z; February, 67,1210z ; being an increase of 16.8250z for the last month. The yield for February, 1900, was 74,9470z.
