As will bo seen elsewhere, all the ar« rangementa for a military farewell to the 1 Sixth Contingent are cancelled, on aecount of the Queen's death, and the troops are to i be marched • quietly aboard the Cornwall, and leave for South Africa without ceremony. ' ■:/ CAMP NEWS. Yesterday forenoon the Auckland mem. bers of the Sixth Contingent were put through a course of drill in outpost duty ana guard mounting, and in the afternoon; were instructed in making up their kits and . . attaching their accoutrements, etc., to'their horses. Lieutenant Sykes, who has been appointed - a subaltern to the 'Sixth Contingent, arrived in camp in the morning, and took up • his duties. Lieutenant Sylces was a mem- , ber of the Second Contingent, and served in South Africa as a sergeant until invalided - back to the colony. The arrangements made for the memoers - of the contingent to attend various houses of entertainment will now bo cancelled, on account of the death of Her Majesty tho Queen. f GUARANTEE AND SUBSCRIPTION ' LIST.
