POLICE COURT NEWS. The presiding magistrate at the Police Court yesterday was Mr. Thos. Hutchison, , S.M. Four persons were convicted and discharged for drunkenness. Rawiri Taua, the Maori charged with the murder of his wife at Miranda on December 29 last, .was, remanded to Mercer for trial, on the application of Sub-Inspector Mitchell. Mr. Theo. Coopei appeared for the prisoner. Sidney Mahoney was fined 20s, with costs, upon a charge of having been guilty of behaving threateningly in Wyndham-street. Roger Lupton, a slaughterman, was convicted of having assaulted Walter Young, a butcher, in Karangahape Road. His Worship imposed a fine of 40s, with costs, and ordered defendant to enter into one surety of £20 to keep the peace for three months. Mr. Reed appeared for the complainant and Mr. Pilkington for the defendant.
