THE THAMES HOSPITAL

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Monday. At a meeting of the Thames Hospital trustees this evening, the chairman (Mr. T. A. Dunlop) announced that the Right Rev. Monsignor O'Reilly, who had filled the position of chairman to the trustees for several years past, declined to accept that position for the ensuing year, but the local bodies' deputies had met that afternoon and appointed him a trustee. Mr. Menzies heartily endorsed the action, and said that Monsignor O'Reilly had been connected with the hospital for a period of 30 years. The Building Committee reported the purchase at £175, of Mrs. Airey's property in Mackay-street, and that negotiations for an adjoining property on the same terms were now in progress. Both of the properties referred to adjoin the hospital ground, and will form a valuable acquisition. The Chairman announced that a glass plate, inscribed with the late Mr. Ehrenfried's name, was to be placed in the Ehrenfried ward at once. A hearty vote of thanks was passed by the trustees to all those who had assisted in connection with the late bazaar, special reference being made to the valuable assistance rendered by the ladies of Ohinemuri, Waihi, Karangahake, Turua, Tapu, and Thames. A further vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs. Menzies, Foy, and Cantley for the valuable aid rendered by them to the bazaar. The secretary (Mr. Cantley) stated that the total proceeds of the late bazaar would amount to about £450, upon which sum the Government subsidy would be payable. On the motion of Mr. Menzies a vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Thos. Radford (who was retiring from the trustees) for his valuable services as a trustee, the resolution to be placed on the records. Mr. Theo. Wood, a newly-appointed trustee, was accorded a hearty, welcome.
