1 TO THE EDITOR. 5 Sir, —Periodically the subject of auction--3 eers' charge is ventilated in your correspondence colutins. When in Edinburgh lately, * I made inquiry as to the charges made by " Messrs. Join Swan and Sons, Limited, ono l of the larg«t firms in the live stock auction 3 business in Scotland. I enclose for your perusal a couple of account sales, furnished f during the current year by the firm mentioned. Thy first refers to the sale of a, I cow, which realised £15 15s at auction. The commission charged is 4s, with 4d additional for custom aad men, total 4s 4d. The second [. notifies the tale of two calves, one of which j realised 12s 6il, and the other £1. The comr mission on this transaction is Is, custom and ! men Bd, total Is' Bd.— am, etc., J _ James Mrre.
