WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.
[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Thursday. CABINET. Ministers met in Cabinet this morning. The draft of the Coal Mine Commission was approved. The Federation Commissioners will not be appointed until the next meeting of the Cabinet. The Premier left to-night for Greymouth. VETERINARY SURGEONS. The Government intend to have an inspector stationed at every meat export and freezing works in the colony, and this officer will be a veterinary surgeon. Mr. Gilruth while in Europe will personally interview all the applicants for the new positions of veterinary surgeons, and will see that those who are successful are most suited for the work required of them in the colony. These veterinary surgeons will also be required for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the new dairy regulations. Whilst at Home Mr. Gilruth will also be of assistance in the matter of making some inquiries and arrangements in connection with the. establishment of the new Health Department. TAKING THE VEIL. There was quite a stir in the Roman Catholic community yesterday upon the occasion of seven voiing ladies taking religious vows. Archbishop Redwood presided at the ceremony, assisted by 15 priests. There was a full choral service. WELLINGTON FRIENDLY SOCIETIES. A meeting ox the general council was held last night. Copies of a suggested medical agreement were ordered to be sent to all lodges. ..
