BAPTIST CONFERENCE.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Christchurch, Wednesday. The Baptist Conference was occupied all day with the affairs of the Missionary Society. The annual report was distinctly encouraging. Messages from missionaries gave general pleasure and satisfaction. The committee was instructed to immediately proceed to the erection of the hospital. The whole afternoon was occupied in the election- of the secretary, Mr. H. H. Driver, being reelected, in association with the Rev. P. W. Boreham in matters of correspondence. Mr. A. Hoby was re-elected treasurer, and Messrs. Whitton and Godber auditors. A pubho meeting was hold at night. There was a good attendance. Mr. George Talbot, Mayor of Nelson, presided. The Revs. Dallaston (Wellington), Gray (Nelson), and Martin (Napier) delivered addresses.
