Invention reports work has been started on what will be the largest cantilever bridge in the world. It is being constructed by the Phoenix Bridge Company for the Canadian ■ Government, and will span the St. Lawrence River at Quebec. The main span will be 1800 ft in length, and the two end spans 600 ft each, the width of the bridge being 70ft. There are to be four lines of railway, a carriageway, and two footways, which will be carried across at an elevation of 170 ft above waterlevel.
