THE GRANDE DUCHESS DOLGA. The new mast, yards, and gear foi the disabled French barque Grande Duchess D Ultra, which were taken down to Papeete by the s.s. Ovalau, on her last trip from Auckland, were all landed safely, and the work of getting the vessel ready for sea was progressing rapidly when the Ovalau left for Auckland. THE MARABOA. Thti Union' Company's steamer Mararoa, Captain R. Neville, arrived from Southern and East Coast ports yesterday afternoon, having taken up the running of the aihora in the New Zealand-Sydney trade. Whilst at Port Chalmers the Mararoa was floated into dock for general overhaul. Ui the trip up the coast. Mr. Mulqueen, the purser, reports tha* the steamer left Dunedin on the 13th inst., and called at Lyttelton on the 14th. Wellington on the 15th. Napier on the 16th. and took final departure from Gisborne on the 17th. at 10.45 a.m., berthing at the Queen-street Wharf at 1 p.m. yesterday. Experienced light variable winds to Gisborne, thence - strong north-westerly gale with heavy seas to arrival. The Mara,roa proceeds on to Sydney at 5.30 p.m. to-day. THE WAKANUI. , The New Zealand Shipping Company s fine steamer Wakanui arrived from Napier on Saturday morning, berthing at the hallway Wharf. The Wakanni on her present voyage left Plymouth on August 18, and called at Teneriffe. Capetown, and Hobart, and arrived at Wellington on October 9. after an uneventful voyage, although not altogether pleasant from a weather point of view. On discharge at Wellington, the steamer visited Lvttolton, Timara. the Bluff, and Napier, discharging and loading cargo at all ports, and finally left Napier at 8.30 p.m. on the 15th inst.. arriving at 11 a.m. on the 17th. Strong head winds and seas and thick, dirty weather, were experienced on the trip up the coast. The steamer berthed at the Railway Wharf, and shortly after arrival commenced taking in cargo for London. This is the final port of departure in the colony, and the steamer is expected to get away for London to-morrow. Captain Croucher, late of the Papanui. is in command, and has with him the following officers:—Chief officer. Mr. Parsons (late of Ruahine): second, G. Easton: third, IS. THE OVALAU. The Unioi Company's steamer Ovalau, Captain F. W. Macbeth, which arrived from the Society and Cook Islands early 011 Saturday morning, as announced in the HERALD, was inspected by the health officer, and berthed at Quaj'-street Jetty No. 2 at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The steamer brought the following passengers:—Captain Wheeler and Messrs. Bell and Hemus, and a large cargo of pearlshell, copra, and fruit. Ot the voyage. Mr. C. E. Dencb, the purser, reports:—The Ovalau left Papeete at 11 a.m. on the sth inst., called at Mauke and Atiu in the Cook Group, on the 7th. Aitutaki on the 8!h, and left Karotonga at 8 p.m. on the 9th for Auckland, arriving at 1.20 a.m. on the 17th. Experienced fine weather for three days, thenco strong head winds to arrival. The Ovalau vftis floated into the Auckland Dock yesterday, and come 3 out this morning, and leaves for the Islands again to-morrow evening.

THE TAVIUNI. The Union Company's steamer Taviuni. Captain D. McLean, arrived from Westport. at 4.20 a.m. yesterday, berthing at Quay-street Jetty No. 21 Mr. J. A. Tubby, the parser, reports that the steamer left Westport at 4 a.m. on the 15th inst., passed Cape Mana Van Pieraen at 7 a.m. on the 17th, and had Capo Brett abeam at 4 p.m. the same date, arriving as above. Experienced strong north - west winds to the North Cape, with thick fog. followed by fine weather to arrival. The Tavrani leaves for Fiji at noon on Wednesday.

THE HAWEA. The Union Company's steamer Hawea, Captain J. Abram, arrived from \V estport at 5 a.m. Yesterday, berthing at the Hobson-street Wharf to discharge her careo of coal. ine steamer left Westport at 4.45 a.m. on Thursday last, and had strong westerly winds and moderate seas to Cape Maria \an Diemen, which was passed at 4.15 a.m. on Saturday, thence fresh northerly wind and following pea to arrival. The Hawea leaves for the South on Wednesday. THE MANGAROA. - t . The island schooner Mangaroa, Captain Nagle. arrived from Rarotonga on Saturday, with a cargo of copra, and 'anchored oil .ne North Head owing to tho strong westerly gale. The vessel was inspected by the health officer yesterday morning. end afterwards came up harbour, and anchored in the Htre?m. to the westward of the Qaecn-strc-et Wharf. The master reports sailing from Rarotonga on October 23. and experienced fine weather until crossing the meridian, followed by strong south-west gales and heavy seas to arrival. TAHITI SHIPPING. The schooner O. M. Kellog arrived on October 20 from San Francisco, in place of the City of Papeete, with a full load of provisions and a large Quantity of timber. She left again on November 1 for San Francisco with a full load ot copra and cocoanuts. The warship Aube left Papeete on October 11 for a cruise around the island of Tahiti. The patent slip is being thoroughly overhauled and placed in perfect order, and when finished it is expected to take up a good-sized vessel. Mr. B. Chapman has launched a verv nice steam launch, to be employed in the fishing trade between Tahiti and the island of Tetiaroa. , , , ~ . The Oceanic S.S.
