AUSTRALIAN DREDGING. SAYLOR CREEK GOLD DREDGING. Letters received yesterday horn Melbourne say that the dredgo upon the Saylor Creek Company's property, at Daylosford, will start operations in about a fortnight. As these letters aro dated tho 16th inst., everything by this must be very near completion. This should be satisfactory news to all the Auckland shareholders. Messrs. Cuttorf Bros., of Dunedin, aro engineers to the company. ___ MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Imperial: In tho imperial Gold Mining Company's mine at Karangahako, during the past week, the drivo south upon the course of No. 3 roof at No. 2 level penotraled a very firm class of country, and consequently the roef has narrowed down to about 15in in thickness. It nevertheless looks promising, and should a more congenial class of country set in, it would probably liavo a good effort upon tho ore. Driving southward upon No. 2 roof is still being pursued, and an excellent class of country oncases the reof. A fairly good body of quartz is now showing in the face, from which a little gold can be obtained by pounding and washing. Now Whau: The drive in tho New Whau Gold Mining Company's mino at tho Thames, at the No. 2 level, has been extended through nice-looking sandslono country, whioh is still interlaced with numerous mineral stringers. Tho third stope westward of the No. 2 riso has been brought along 12ft, and the fourth stopo sft, and a splendid class of sandstone country also encases the reef here. The No. 2 riso has attained a height of 22ft from the No. 2 level, sft having been risen for the week. The manager intends to commence to convey quartz to the lattery during the coming week, and to start crushing on the 30th inst.
