Last night the auxiliary schooner Greyhound arrived from Awanni, Hohoura, Whangaroa, and Russell, and leaves for the North again on Wednesday evening. On Saturday morning the Northern Company's steamer Terranora arrived from Whangarei, and' left for the same place again last night. The Northern Company's steamer Wellington arrived from Whangarei early yesterday morning, and leaves for the same placo again this evening. . On Saturday nigh* the Northern Company's steamer Muritai arrived from Mercury Bay. Kuaotunu, and Kennedy's Bav, and will be floated into the Auckland Dock to-day for general overhaul. The Northern Company's steamer Waitangi arrived from Tauranga yesterday morning, and leaves for Tairua, Whangamata, and Tauranga at 9 o'clock to-night. Transhipments jper ship Aberfoyle, from Glasgow, arrived by the Mapourika from Port Chalmers yesterday. The Northern Company's steamer Chelmsford arrived from Wbangapoua yesterday afternoon, after ? rough trip. THE MAPOUBIKA.

• The Union Company's steamer Maponrika, Captain R. M. Farmer, arrived fiom Southern and East Coast ports yesterday afternoon, with a largo number of passengers, and a quantity of general cargo. Mr. John Low, the purser, reports that the steamer left Dunedin on the Bth inst., and called at Lyttelton, ■Wellington. Napier, and Gisborne, leaving the latter port at 11 a.m. on the 12th, arriving at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. Fresh variable winds were met with throughout the trip to East Cape Island, thence strong to moderate westerly winds across the Bay of Plenty to arrival. The Maponrika leaves for East Coast and Southern ports to-morrow afternoon.

THE ALCESTIS.-HEAVY GALES. The barque Alcestis, Captain Dormer, ar rived fiom Adelaide on Saturday morning with a cargo of salt and bark, but owing to the strong westerly blowing anchored under the North Head until yesterday afternoon, when she was towed up the harbour and anchored in the stream. Dr. Sharman, the health officer, visited the barque yesterday afternoon, and finding everything in order granted pratique. Of the passage the master reports:-Sailed from Adelaide on April 19, and met with light northerly airs for the first 24 hours, when strong south-east gales, Listing for 10 days, were encountered, On the 27th the wind shifted into the north-west, blowing a heavy gale. Passed Lord Howe Island on the Ist inst., and the Three Kings on the 11th, a strong westerly gale and heavy sea prevailing during that time. Down the coast strong westerly and north-westerly winds were met with until arrival as above.

THE CLEMATIS. The ketch Clematis, Captain McKenzie, arrived from Surprise Island on Saturday morning with a cargo of guano. The master reports sailing from the island on April 28, and met with strong west-south-west winds throughout the passage to arrival as above. Yesterday Dr. Sharman, the health officer, visited the vessel, and granted pratique.

THE UTA. The Wellington Harbour Board's launch Uta arrived at Wellington. from Auckland and Napier at 8.30 pm. on Friday, after a good run of 30 hours from the latter port. Messrs. W. A. Ryan' and Co., the contractors for the launch and engine, received a telegrau from Captain W. Nicholson, who took tho little vessel down, stating that after leaving Napier a strong head gale was encountered, lasting until arrival at Wellington. During the bad weather the Uta proved herself an excellent sea boat, and tho engines worked so well that a speed of seven knots per hour was averaged throughout. THE PUKAKX

The Union Company's steamer Pnkaki, bound from Timarn to Auckland with a cargo of grain and produce, was sheltering in nick's Bay on Saturday last from the strong westerly gale. Sho should make this port this morning,
