BRITISH CROSS THE VAAL
RIVER.
BOERS RETREATING FROM FOURTEEN STREAMS. London, May 5. Mafeking reported all 'well on April 29. Lord Roberts telegraphs that General Hunter reports very satisfactory news. He has succeeded in passing the Vnal River at Windsorton, the town being carried unopposed. A Gin gun opened on the Boers' laager at Fourteen Streams, at a distance of seven and a-half miles, dismantling one gun, and compelling a hasty retreat.
