Geneial French's despatches dealing with the fighting round Colesberg in th.) earlier part of the year, commends the excellent conduct and bearing of the New Zealanders, and specially mentions Major Robin's signal service. He also states that Captain Madocks is well worthy of recog-
nition.
Lord Roberts adds a note stating that the New Zealanders have specially distinguished themselevs.
