AUCKLAND AMATEUR ATHLETIC AND CYCLE CLUB. B. GOODSON AND DE LISSA TO VISIT AUCKLAND. A meeting of the Management Committee of tho Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club was held at the rooms of the Amateur Sports' Club last evening, Mr. C. E. MaoCormick, vice-president, in tho chair. A communication was read from Now South Wales, stating that tho Now South Wales Cyclists' Union had decided to recognise the New Zealand Cyclists' Alliance as the governing body of amateur cycling for New Zealand. Futher advices woro received, to the effect that arrangements were being made to send B. Goodson, Australia's champion amateur cyclist, and O. De ■ Lissa, another prominent New South Wales rider, to compete at the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club's Spring Carnival, and it was dceidod to forward a cordial invitation to the cyclists named. A visit from Goodson should prove particularly interesting, ho having only recently returned from the World's Championships at Montreal, wliero lie met with a largo measure of success in competition with t-lio champions from various parts of the world. NEW ZEALAND CYCLISTS' ALLIANCE. A meeting of the New Zealand Cyclists' Alliance was held last evening at tho Amateur Sports' Club's rooms, Mr. C. E. MacCormick presiding. A letter was road from Mi'. R. T. Lees, vice-president .of the alliance at Christchurch, stating that the Pioneer Canterbury Athletic and Cycle Club purposed sending riders to take part in the alliance championships and handicap events at the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club's Spring Carnival. A communication from the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, to the effect that it was proposed to endeavour to arrange for a visit to New Zealand early in 1900, of a team of amateur athletes and cyclists, with a view to competing at meetings to he held in the four principle centres of the Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. The association asked that the alliance lend their assistance and co-operation in the matter, which was granted. Considerable routine business was transacted.
