Dr. King returned from the South by the Gairloch yesterday. Mr. John Bollard, M.H.R., arrived from Wellington yesterday by the Gairloch. Captain and Miss Colbeck left Lyttelton for Auckland yesterday by the s.s. Zealandia. The Rev. W. Cannell, of St. Paul's Church, Cambridge, lias made up his mind to retire from the ministry next April, and return to Taranaki to end his days. It is upwards of 10 years since Mr. Cannell joined the Weslevnn Ministry. A very pretty wedding, in which a great deal of interest was taken, was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Otahnhu, yesterday afternoon, when Mr. James Robb, assistant master at Onelmnga public school, and son of the late Mr. James Robb, of Onehunga, ' was married to Miss Luke, daughter of Mr. Samuel Luke, of Otahuhu. The church, which had been beautifully decorated, was crowded. Among the decorations was a large floral bell over the chancel rails, under which the ceremony was performed. Miss Luke has been intimately connected with the | Church and Sunday-school, so the service was choral, and as the wedding party entered the church the choir sang " The Voice That Breathed O'er Eden." Canon Could i was the officiating clergyman, assisted by the Rev. E. M. Cowie. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a handsome pale grey costume, trimmed with ivory satin and lace, and carried a shower bouquet. She was attended by Miss Marion Robb as bridesmaid, and Mr. Norman McKay acted as best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony Miss Eliza Hall, the organist, played Mendelssohn's "Wedding March," and the bride and bridegroom drove away amid a shower of flowers and rice. The guests were subsequently entertained at the residence of the bride's parents, and viewed the beautiful presents, over 100 in number, of which Mr. and Mrs. Robb were the recipients. Canon Gould proposed the health of the bride in a happy speech, and the Rev. E. M. Cowie, in speaking to the toast expressed the regret that the Primate and Mrs. Cowie felt at not being able to be present at the marriage of the daughter of such very old friends as Mr. and Mrs. Luke.
