THE GAIETY COMPANY.

The Gaiety Minstrel and Comedy Company were greeted with a crowded house last evening, when another change of programme was presented, and several new artists, direct j from the Tivoli Theatre, made their first apj pearance at tho City Hall. The now firstI part, entitled "Tho Palace of Gaiety," | with its galaxy of beauty in masher dress, ! and delightful parlour scene, proved most at- ! tractive, and afforded opportunity for the i introduction of a series of enjoyable items, : interspersed with the smart sayings and ; doings of the " burnt-cork" fraternity on 1 tho corners. Everyone was, of course, ! anxiously awaiting tho appearanco of the ! newcomers, and it must certainly bo said ! that the Australian contingent more than I filled expectations, not a single member bei ing allowed to depart without a doublo, and, ; 111 some instances, a treble recall. Mr. Frank Yorlco proved himself one of tho cleverest Ethiopian comedians seen on a local stage, introducing in capital voice several of the latest English and American hits; amusing, funny, and yet froe from vulgarity, this artist at once established himself ft warm favourite with the audience. Equally successful was Mr. Albert McKisson, tho versatile negro comedian, with his pleasing songs, sketches, and eccentric dancing; while his tumbling was in itself a feature of the entertainment ; indeed, few moro _ versatile | nrt.sts have performed here. _ Miss Lottie | Lome, the charming serio-comic, introduced herself in a number of new songs and | sketches, and so hearty was the reception I accorded her, that tho talented little lady was compelled to respond again and again to the emphatic encores of the delighted onlookers. The trio of Faust Sisters appeared I in a novel acrobatic, terpsichorean act; a j most unique and pleasing turn, and one that I at once won the hearty plaudits of the | audience, their tumbling, bending, posing, and dancing being little short of marvellous. Indeed, so successful were one and all the latest additions, that the management may look forward to crowded houses during their sojourn in Auckland. Nor were the old favourites to he outdone, the clever acrobatic team, Mr. Frank Rayston and Miss Marie Rayford, excelling themselves in the comedy sketch, " Tramps' Visit to a Restaurant," while tho operatio duo, Mr. J. E. Shepherd and Miss Miriam Lewis, scored a distinct success in the scone from " Maritana." The entertainment-, which closed with a mirth-provoking farce, " A Game of Cards," will be repeated this evening.
