An amusing episode- occurred in the hearing of a charge of breach of the peace agains two men to.-day, counsel for each, striving to convince Mr. Poynton, the S.M.» that his (-lien* was the assaulted party. One solicitor asked for an adjournment to procure further evidence in his client's favour, but Mr. Poynton saw that that was quite unnecessary, for it had so happened that lie himself was an eye witness of the fracas, and had been on the point 01 interfering, when a constable appealed.
