NATIVE APPELLATE COURT.
[from OUR own correspondent.] Tramks, Saturday. TnF, Native Appellate Court, consisting of Judges Scannell and Batham and Native Assessor Mr. Urnamo, yesterday concluded its sitting at Shortland, after giving judgments in the Puhangateiirn (9000 acres), Otakawe (3000 acres), Horahia-Opou (4500 acres), and two smaller blocks, viz., Te Kata a te Kawau and Waipapa, all of which are situated in the Piako district. The decisions given by Judge Mair in these cases in 1897 were all upheld without variation, the Ngatimaru claims being upheld, and the appeals made by Ngatihako and the smaller tribes associated with them dismissed. The Court opens at Paeroa on Monday, and will deal with the Ivaeotepara (rehearing) and other blocks. The lands comprised in the Pnliangateuru and Otakawe blocks, referred to above, have been offered to the Crown by the owners.
