THE EMPIRE.
I TO THE EDITOR. j I Sir, Referring to the disloyal attitude of! the Dutch-Afrikander party, headed by Mr. ! Selireiner, as doscribed in your leading article of to-day, I wish to point out that i there is a disloyal party in Now Zealand as well as in Cape Colony, and while there may lie some excuse for the conduct of Her Majesty's Dutch subjects, on account of their kinship with the Boers, there can be none whatever for the contemptiblo little clique who showed their utter want of principle and patriotism by voting in Parliament against the all but unanimous wish of the members and the people of New Zealand to send a contingent to South Africa to assist tho Mother Country in her time of need. I think, sir, in view of their behaviour on that occasion that it is the bounden duty of the electors who returned them to the House, whether, Liberals, Conservatives, or Prohibij tionists, to see to it that they do not again got a chanco of showing their disloyalty as members of the Parliament of New Zealand. —I am, etc., Elector. i October 16, 1899. i
