SHAMROCK DISABLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. New York, October 17. The race for the America Cup between the yachts Shamrock and Columbia was continued to-day. The Shamrock was disabled, and retired from the race after the first half-hour. Later. Details of the race show that the Shamrock had established a slight lead, but as she was jumping about in a heavy sea, the backstay carried away, and the topmast snapped. Columbia finished the course alone.
