BRITAIN AND RUSSIA.

TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT. RESTRICTED TO RAILWAYS IN CHINA, AN ANGLO-GERMAN LINE. By Telegraph.— Association.— London, May 8. The Anglo-Russian agreement has been published. Britain and Russia recognise the economic and geographical gravitation in certain parts of China, hence they agree on railway questions and disclaim any intention to infringe China's sovereign or treaty rights, The newspapers complain that the agreement is restricted to railways. The Times Pekin correspondent states Ithat the Anglo-German Tient-sin-Chinkiong railway negotiations have led to a preliminary contract for a 5 per cent, loan of £7,400,000, secured on a mortgage, of the railway. China guarantees that the German section shall be under German and Chinese control, and the Chinkiang section under English and Chinese control. The line is to be built in five years.
