[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] PIJtONGIA, Friday. A SOCIAL was given here by the public of Pirongia yesterday if honom of Mrs. G. M. Aliier (nee Miss Allen), our late higlilj respected postmistress. There was a large attendance. notwithstanding the very inclement and (lark night, upwards of 100 people being present. Musio and dancing were the order of the evening. Songs were given by the boat singers in tlu district. During 16 evening Mr. W. H. James, on behalf of the subscribers, presented Mrs. Ahier with a handsome dressing-case and an address. Mr. G. M. Ahier, on behalf of his wife, returned thanks in appropriate terms.
