WAIKATO HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of tho above was held at Hamilton on Thursday. Present: Messrs. W. Doy (ohairman), H. Kerr, W. M. Bankhart, J. P. Bailey, Mills, J. B. Toasdale, Vickors, and A. Primrose, Tho secretary read a letter from Dr. Kenny resigning his position as houso surgeon and nominating Dr. Scanlon as his locum tenons. Tho Chairman staled that the doctor's resignation had heon accepted by tho committee and Dr. Scanlon had been accepted as house surgeon pending the appointment of a successor to Dr. Kenny. The action of the Houso Committee was confirmed. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. M. Casey for his usual donation of a guinea to the funds of tho hospital. Dr. Kenny wrote pointing out to the Board that the amount saved in consriuonco of his not having taken advantage of his annual holiday for a number of years was £158. Since his residence at the hospital ho had oxpended about £76 in improving tho houso, and as his expenses on removing to Rotorua would be heavy, ho asked for a refund of the latter sum. The matter was allowed to stand over till next mooting, tho doctor to bo requested in the moantimo to furnish a schedule of the improvements. The reports of the resident surgeon and tho secretary wore read and adopted. As requested at last meeting the secretary submitted & return showing tha cost of gas for tho past year to have been £70 3s. Tho Chairman said this was just about double the coat of kerosene. The matter was loft over till next meeting. Mr. Bailey gave notice to move at next meoting, "That the Board revert to the use of koroseno." The secretary was instructed to advertise in the Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin papers for a houso surgeon to fill the vacancy caused by Dr. Kenny's resignation at a salary of £400 per year and free house. Accounts amounting to £263 16s lid were passed for payment. Tho clerk read the following statement of the Board's finances— Amounts due from contributing bodies: Piako County Council, £100; Waikato County Council, £104 4s Id; Waipa County Council, £175; Hamilton Borough, £34; subsidy due, £476 9s Id; foes (estimated), £100; rents, £30; balance in Bank of New Zealand, £121 3s 4d: total, £1140 16s lid; loss accounts to pay, £263 16s lid; balance available, £877. The Board then rose.
