OLD AGE PENSIONS.
A NEW REGULATION. [BY TELEGRAM.—ritESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. Clause 11. of the old age pensions regulations made last month, has been revoked, and a new regulation gazetted. The magistrate may authorise an officer of his court, or any fit person, to obtain evidence, and that officer is to have free access to the Government and Supreme Court records relating to property, and to the RegistrarGeneral's records. The scope of the evidence which may be accepted by the stipendiary magistrate is widened, and ho may accept documentary evidence, which is not strictly legal. Dunsdin. Thursday. Up to Wednesday, 358 old age pension claims had been dealt with in Dunedm. Two hundred and one certificates were issued for the full pensions, and 30 for partial pensions. Fourteen applications were declined, and 113 adjourned.
