The largo audience that assembled at the Opera House last evening to witness the teco °d performance in Auckland of Mr. Harry Rickards' Variety Company was a ptifying assurance . that the popular taste •or variety entertainments has not died out suaoe Mr. Richards last toured the colony. Mr. Riekards' songs last night included several old favourites, while a num to of new songs which have boen exceedingly populai at Home were introduced for the to time to an Auckland audioncc. Signor ftondi, who is a veritable marvel of versatility, showed his wonderful powers of mimicry "J imitating sevoral celebrities, some of worn are well known to New Zealand audiences, 16 pa so with which he took off their tricks of style eliciting rounds of appreciative JPP.ause. Of the other members of this talented company, Miss Lottie Moore and Mr. Albort Bollman, who appear in a musical Ketoh, "A Pair 0 Lunatic*," convulsed tho Wdience by their whimsicalities, while Miss Moore makes a olever danccr, her coon •OBfts 'being excellent. Mr. J. W. Winton is • clever ventriloquist, & nd Messrs. Foreman Jfd Thomas wore most successful with their P«ter" songs. Miss Clara Llewelyn and Jtr. Hamilton Hill are worthy of mention for weir excellent singing, and are an acquisition to this clever company. Anothe. performance will bo given this evening.
