FIRE AT PAEROA.
[BY TELEGRAPH,OWN CORRESPONDENT.] * Paeroa, Monday. The premises of Captain O'Hara, of the Paeroa Fire Brigade, had a narrow escape from destruction by fire last night. It appears that one of the children went into the bedroom with a lighted candle, and unconsciously allowed the clothes in a wardrobe to catch fire. An alarm was at once given, and one of the lads, with great presence of mind, pulled down the burning clothes, and smothered the fire before much damage was done. The fire brigade turned out quickly, but fortunately their services were not required.
