In connection with this great and important event in the industrial history o . land and the province, the Proprietors of the New ZEALAND Herald and AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS have made arrangements o issuing a special and superb Exhibition Number of these two journals, devoted entir y a descriptive account and pictorial rep tion of the manifold characteristics belong ins to the progress and prosperity of this part of the colony. The preparations for the publication of this special Exhibition Number have extended over a considerable period, and have involve gr expense and labour, the aim of the Proprietors being to produce the most readable, attractive, and original work ever issued in the colony. The result will he found to be, we venture to predict, eminently successful. This number will be pronounced to be the most unique an interesting production which journalistic enterprise has yet given to the New Zealand
public. The number will literally team with illusions. executed with the greatest artistic excellence and covering a vast variety of subjects. The portraits it will contain will alone invest it with an interest that no previous publication lias ever possessed, while its engravings and historical and industrial views will not only excite admiration and command attention, but will be found the most informing Beries of pictures ever presented to the public, and give the best idea to the country settlers and the outside world of the growth and magnitude of the various industries of this portion of New Zealand. Never before, indeed, have the enormous natural resources, and the great industrial enterprises associated with this northern portion of the colony been so fully or so interestingly described and portrayed as in this special Exhibition Number, which, in addition to its new and striking features, will be one of the largest and best illustrated productions ever issued in Australasia. The Number, which will contain hundreds of beautiful illustrations, unexcelled for quality and tone, will be published with a handsome cover, and will be printed on special paper, with ink of the finest quality, and on one of the newest and most recently imported printing machines, the only 0110 of its kind in the colony for producing fine art work of the hitrhest class. The Number will be ready next month, and as the demand for it is expected to be phenomenal, orders should be boohed with the publishers without delay.
