AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.
The renovation of the Ohoral Hall is being pushed on with vigour, and a great change has taken place in its appearance. The organ will be practically completed at the end of next week, and it is expected to be heard during the following week. A full rehearsal of the living whist players was held in the hall for the first time yesterday afternoon, and was _ very successful. A meeting of the members of the Executive Committee took place yesterday evening, at the offices of Mr. Holmes, the secretary. Several letters were read, covering offers of a number of works of art. Amongst others, several valuable specimens of statuary, which should make a good addition to the art collection. The anneie tenders for advertising on the front fence not being considered satisfactory, it was decided to leave the letting of spaces in the hands of Mr. Meadows. It was decided to issue season tiokets to boys up to 15, at 10s 6d, or about 2d per day. A discussion took place as to the safety of certain valuable exhibits. Mr. Meadows said that Messrs. T. and S. Morrin (Limited), had kindly lent three safes, in which at night to place valuables. There would be special constables, also special extra police protection. Mr. Meadows said there would be pilot lights in the courts, so that the watchmen would have everything under their view. The Chairman stated that the Exhibition would bo practically completed this next week. About 150 men were at present at work on the building, and the place was simply a hive of industry. If the people would now bring in their exhibits, all would bo well, and any delay now arising would be occasioned by the tardiness of the exhibitors, not that of the Executive Committee, who had made all their arrangements.
