CANTERBURY AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
[BT TELEGRAPH — riIESS ASSOCIATION.] CnitisTcinntcii, Friday. Ths weather to-day for the people's day at the Canterbury metropolitan show was beautiful.. The total attendance is estimated at 22,000. tho gate-money amounting to £949 12s 6d. Tho Governor and tho Premier, and several members of both Houses of Parliament were present. Of the exhibits judged to-day the most important classes were those for light horses. In this department the entires showed a marked increase on the previous years, and the general quality of tho horses was of a high standard. In the class for blood entires, Mr. 11. Thomson's Musketry gained the first prize, Sir Geo. Clifford's Stonyhurst being second. Mr. E. J. McLelland's Prince Victor took the first prize in hackney entires. The awards in the class for 15st hacks went to Mr. G. P. Donnelly's The Master; 13st hacks, Mr. A. S. Elworthy's Skylark: and list hacks, Miss Elworthy's Joker. In ladies' hacks Dr. Nedwill took first and second. Skylark was first in tho class for 14st hunters, and Miss Button's Waihaio in the list and any-weight classes. Mr. T. Oliff's Hazeldean waa placed first in trotting entires.
