ALLEGED VITRIOL-THROWING.
[bt telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Friday. A woman named Constance Nfeholls was arrested this afternoon on a charge of having thrown vitriol over her husband. The man, who was removed to the hospital, was found to be badly burned, especially about the neck and shoulders, but is not considered to be in any danger. The parties have been before the Court on one or two occasions lately, Mrs. Nicholls having taken proceedings against her husband for maintenance. In consequence of statements made by the husband, Mr. Kenny warned Mrs. Nicholls that she must not interfere at all with the man's work, but had better leave him alone. The order sought for was made, and Nicholls promised to comply with it. He said he would live with her, only she had " kicked him out."
