RODNEY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

On October 29, a mooting of the committoo of tlio Rodney Agricultural Society was held in the Masonic Hall, Warkworlh, when there wero present: Mossrs. Such (chairman). King, A. D. Martin, P. Thomson, Clayden, Carrie, and the 'secretary. Mr. Carrie took exception as the statement in tho minutes of the balance in hand only showod rash, when there woro goads as donated for special prizes, as shown on the balance-sheet, of a considerable value, which would make a material difference to tho position of the society. When rectified, tho minutes woro confirmed. The chairman read a tolegram from Mr. Trotter apologising for his absence. The secretary reported that Mr. Harrison had consented to act as auditor for tho ensuing year. Mr. Clayden reported that ho had made a plan and specification for tho construction of a shed of tho dimensions specified at last meeting, "with a frame of wood covered with galvanised corrugated iron, which ho considered could be erected for or under tho stun proposed at last meeting, Proposed by Mr. Carrie, seconded by Mr. King, and carried, " That separate lenders be called for tho shed in terms of tho specifications, with iron covored roof, and with iron covored roof lined with wood, tho tendors to bo delivered to tho secretary on or before November 18, tho building to be finished by the end of January, 1899. A letter was recoived from Mr. G. S. Sankoy, resigning his position as member of the committee. Accepted with regret. A conversation elicited that tho certificate of incorporation was not in the hands of either the secretary or any member of tho committee, and that its whereabouts was unknown. The deeds of tho property owned by the society were also in tho same position. Moved by j Mr. Thomson, seconded by Mr. Clayden. I That the secretary apply to the Registrar of Deeds for information ro the title of tho property held by tho Rodnoy Agricultural Society." Carried. A letter from Mr. E. Haddock (storekeeper) making nil annual offer of a special prize for the best dairy cow, £1 la; for best 31b of butter in fancy prints, lt)s 6d; and for tho best 41b loaf of bread, 10s 6d, made by a settler's wife or daughter, with a promise to continue the s»me amount 60 long as ho remains in the district, was accepted with thanks. The chairman reported that the local Fruitgrowers' Association did not contemplate taking any official part in the forthcoming show, but individually would show fruit. Mr. P. Thomson said he would agree to liavd his name added to the guarantors list for £10. In consequence of the absence of several members, the consideration of tho prize schedule for 1899 was deferred till next meeting.— Correspondent.]
