Fresh southerly winds and heavy beam sea, prevailed to the North Cape; thence moderate southerly winds and fine weather to arrival. 'f« The Union Company's steamer Kia Ora, Captain Shaw, arrived yesterday afternoon from East Coast ports, with a Quantity of general cargo. Mr. J. A. Grimwood, the purser, reports that the steamer left Napier at 7 p.m. on the 16th inst, called at Oisbornu on the 17th, Tologa Bay on the 18th, Tokomaru on the 19th, Waipiro and Tuparoa on the 20th, and Port Awanui and Hick's Bay on the 21st, leaving the latter place at 5 p.m., and arriving «t 4.30 p.m. yesterday. I'rom Qisborne to the East Capo moderate northeast winds prevailed, with heavy swell; thence light south-west winds and calm sea to arrival. The Kia Ora leaves for the same ports to-morrow evening. SALE OP THE DOUGLAS. The Northern Steamship Company have sold their steamer Douglas to the Jlokau Coal Company, and, after undergoing a general overhaul, the steamer will proceed to Waitaiu to take up her new trade, Captain P. Jones, late of the Kiripaka, taking charge of the steamer. The s.B. Chelmsford will take up the running cf the Douglas between Auck-' land and Whangarei. THE HAWKE'S BAY. The Tyser liner Hawke's Bay, which arrived at Melbourne from London on the 13th inst., had a large general cargo, and a shipment of valuable cattle and pigs, all the live stock being consigned to the Minister for Agriculture in New South Wales. Tho Hawke's Hay left London on June 23. She, experienced strong head winds and seas down the Channel and across the bay, arriving at Las I'almas on July 1. Bunker coal having been taken in, the steamer left again the same afternoon. Ordinary weather prevailed thenco to the tail-end of the south-east trades region, where a fresh south-east gale and high seas set in, The casting was run down on me 45th. parallel, and was marked by strong south-west winds, with lu'gli seas. The live stock stood the voyage exceedingly well, and so far from any loss occurring, the shipment was increased by the birth of a bull calf during tho trip. The Hawke's Hay was expected to reach Sydney on Saturday last, and on discharge of cargo comes on to Auckland. THE JOHN WILLIAMS. The London Missionary Society's steamer John Williams was due at Sydney from the Islands at the end of last week. THE WABSHIPS. The flagship Royal Arthur is to leave Sydney this week for Jervis Bay, for quarterly prize-firing, which is expected to occupy about eleven days, when the flagship will return to Sydney. , , , Tho Dart has arrived at Cairns, Queensland, from a surveying cruise off the North Queensland coast, and is to remain in port until tomorrow. The Mohawk and Goldfinch were on the Solomon Islands division at last advices. The Wallaroo was at Hobart at hist advices and is expected to remain in Tasmanian waters for another month. The Karrakatta is at present in Queensland waters.
