A SEAMAN DROWNED.

[BT TEIfeGKAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Lyttelton, Thursday. As the steamer Liddesdalo was leaving for Timaru last night, when just outside the Moles, Thomas Christie, a seaman engaged catting the anchor, missed his tooting and fell overboard. It is supposed he struck the anchor and sank immediately, as three lifebuoys were thrown and two boats were lowered immediately, but he was not seen. The spot was searched for two hours, and a boat was sent ashore to report the matter to the police. The steamer continued her voyage this morning. The Union Company and the police have boats dragging for the body. __________
