AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. Osii two calls were held, the majority of the offices being closed during the afternoon. Very little business was transacted, but there was a fair number of buyers. Investment stocks were easier, National Banks being enquired for at 395, New Zealaud Insurance 71s, National Insurance 17s 6d, and Tanpiri Coals £1 7s 6d. In mining Kuranui-Caledonians had buyers at 4s gd; May Queens firmed a little, being wanted at 7s 3d and 7s 4d. Moanataiarie were unchanged, New Alburnias were easier, buyers at last call offering, Bs, 9d, sellers -holding for 4s 3d. Tapu Flukes were asked for at lOd. Victorias . hardened, , there being buyers tat 2s' 3d, and at the noon call 2s 4d. KapaiVermonts were wanted at 6s 3d, sellers, asking 7s. Grace Darlings declined from buyers at Is 8d to Is 6d; Imperials, Is. Talismans were easier, being inquired for at 17s 6d; Talisman Extended at Is 2d; Woodstocks, 355; and Bunker's Hill 2s Id; while Four-in-Hands were unchanged. _ Komatas were done at 3d. Welcome Finds were wanted at Is 6d, sellers holding'for 2s, while Barrier stocks were easier.
WORK RESUMED. [by telegraph— CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Wednesday. Operations were resumed to-day in the whole of the mines in which work had been suspended in commemoration of the Queen's record reign. GOLD SHIPMENTS. [BY telegraph.—PßESS association.] Wellington, Wednesday. Three boxes of gold, valued at £10,179 17s 9d. shipped from Greymouth, and one box valued at £4931 from Westport, all consigned to the Bank of New South Wales, arrived to-day. By Takapuna, from Auckland yesterday, there were brought for the Bank of New Zealand nine boxes of bullion valued at £'27,227, and 12 pigs of silver valued at £7290: and for the Bank of Australasia one box of bullion valued at £2527. GENERAL MINING ITEMS. Yesterday Mr, W. R. Waters received a telegram from the manager of the Fiery Cross mine at Wharekeraupunga, to the effect that a large outcrop had been met with in the Royal Standard Extended (with which the Fiery Cross is to be amalgamated). The manager adds: "I believe this to be the Royal Standard main reef." Yesterday Mr. D. G. MacDonnell received the following telegram from the manager of the Golden Lead mine :— Golden Lead intersected reef in crosscut. It is 18 inches wide, and gold showing in stone." The results of assays of quartz from the Waitekauri South mine were yesterday forwarded to Mr. W. Clarke. One assay result was at the rate of £116s the second at the rate of £8 15s 6d per ton. Mr. James Slater, architect, etc., of Queenstreet, has now in hand a new map of the Coromandel Peninsula. It will be published as heretofore in three Coromandel, Thames, and Ohinemuri Counties—and will show all the mining leases applied for to date, as well as other information useful to investors. The first part, Ohinemuri County, will be published to-day. This map has been lithographed at the Herald Office.

Alburnia East, sellers 7d ; Argosy, sellers 7d; Broken Hill, sellers 6d: Club, sellers 4d; Karaka Queen, sellers 4d: May Queen, buyers 7s scl ; Nonpareil, sellers 9d; Orlando, sellers id; Occidental, sellers 4d; Ulysses, sellers 3d.
MINE MANAGERS* REPORTS. Nonpareil (Thames, June 19).—Advancement of western drive on Liverpool reef is steadily proceeding. Total distance of 145 feet opened up on this reef. About nine inches of crushing dirt in the face, in which colours of gold can be seen at each breaking down. Rise on eastern end of crosscut shows a thickness of fully one foot, also showing gold. Wado reof continues to look encouraging, and occasionally colours of gold can be seen in the quartz broken. Express (Waitekauri, June 19.)— Hate out quartz stringers in face of excavation. Queen Victoria of Hadraki (Cabbage Bay).—Fair progress made driving on leader to north-east drive. Leader keeps usual size, and several colours of gold seen in quartz at each breaking down, During the week seven tons of stuff paddooked. National (Kuaotunu).—Low level extended. Total distance driven, 57 feet. Country of splendid class of hard, blue sandstone.
Lokna Doone (Kennedy's Bay).—Western crosscut: Drive still in quartz of very solid nature, Favourable mineral is now seen in portion, When greater depth attained reef should be of considerable value. Hadraki South (Coromandel, June 19).Shaft stiuk 'Ai feet to date, No water in shaft, and country continues favourable. New Zkalander (Waitekauri, June 19).No. 1 reef, No. 1 level: Nice mineral and quartz veins met with in drive striking out of hangiugwall towards reef. Reef in rise and drive is of an excellent description for gold. Bio Reek (Tc Purn, Thames, June 19).— Prospecting drive is in 30 feet, in first-class country. Expect to cut reef very shortly. In Big reef section the reef continues to inwove.
City of Auckland (Thames) —Contractors tor shaft have finished sinking. Country in low-level tunnel is still tight. Cut through reef to hangiugwall. Reef measures oyer seven feet wide, the haugingwall portion being mass of mineral. Have paddncked 20 tons of ore,
Great Maratoto (Maratoto).-Have extended drive on course of Marguerite reef. Ore of very promising nature, Have got reef exposed at point lower down the hill. It shows a body of ore about eight feet thick. Jason reef: Have extended low level on course of reef total distance of 58 feet.
Welcome Find (Coromaudel, June 19).N0.2 level: There is no chance in the ground to report. Tile drive has been advanced 12 feet during the week. A fine-looking lode six feet wide has been intersected in the Kathleen ground north of the shaft, and the lode is striking for our shaft. Mount Waihi and Sir Julius (Waihi, June Ground in shaft the same, with boulders and sandstone intermixed at bottom, Shaft sunk 14 feet from brace. M'orion-Puru (Thames, June 19).—Have continued driving crosscut to intersect Rimu reef, and drive is now in 162 feet. Country •till of very favourable nature. Several small stringers have been cut.. Waitkkauri Sooth (Waitekauri).—No. 2 reef continues to look well. Driving north on reef, and it is fully 12 feet wide, a splendid body of stone. Waitkkauri No.2(Waitekauri). —Tunnel extended further distance of 10 feet, and paddock for quartz made. Sunlight (Thames).—Still driving. Sandstone has a kindlier appearance, and change may take place at any moment. Kukanui (Thames). -South drive on Oddfellows reef extended three feet further, and country harder, Reef has widened out to nine inches, and quartz is of lighter nature. Golden Fleece (Karangahake). — Low level extended total distance of 352 feet. Now going through good class of sandstone .country, intermixed with stringers of quartz. Boss (Thames, June 21).—N0. 3 drive is now in 77 feet. Country and reef still look very promising. A new reef now coming in face, which should junction with main reef farther ahead.
Fabulous (Waikoromiko, June 19). Still driving on large reef, but no change has taken place. Country congenial, and reef carries little gold. Coikassikr (Waikoromiko, June 19).— Still continuing rise; reef is running about three feet in width. Colours of gold showing in stone. Reef in other drive is two feet, showing colours of gold. Maritana (Owharoa, June 19).—Level has been extended a total of 192 feet, Men employed making track. Shkridan (Thames, June 21).—Extension of low level crosscut proceeding, country being of most congenial character and traversed by small veins of quartz of kindly description. i Graok Darlino (Waitekauri, June 18),— Face in No. 2 level advanced-20 feet further. Beef opened out to width of nine feet, and looks promising. Stone impregnated with sulphides of silver. . Four-in-Hand (Waikoromiko, June 19).— Drive along reef extended a total distance of 53 feet, gold still showing freely in ore. Gold of very coarse nature. Hadbaki No. 2 (Coromandel, June 19),West crosscut advanced total distance of 184 feet from shaft. Country in face firm sandstone of favourable description! East crossout now in 75 feet from shaft. Country of excellent description, and a little quartz commencing to make on wall carried along in drive. Drive on 9 inch reef advanced 23 feet. Reef was broken down, showing nice-looking '"Sew W hau (Thames. June 19).-Work has been carried on as usual during the past week. The low level has been' extended, and the contractors are still making very fair progress with drive going towards the Imperial (Karangahake, Junel9).-South drive upon course of No. 1 reef has not a* yet reached any improvement, but there is every prospect of it turning out well as development work proceeds. No. 4 level Reef is about two feet in thickness, end shows «little gold. , ■■?•■ V ■■•'
New Golden Point (Tapul-Penetrating favourable class of country, and*, during the past week we have seen cold when breaking the quartz down in winze below low level. The reef forrflation is two feet wide. Since last report ou the quartz broken I have seen colours of gold. The drive north is now in 40 feet; . • ■ , Criterion (Coromandel). — Have cut through reef in second crosscut. It measures six feet in thickness, We have also started a third crosscut. Silas,(Thames, June 19).—Driving east on course of No.' 1 has been started, lode is being stripped, and'appears to be about same size as when intersected. A good, firm class of country is being met with. '.■Ormond (Karaugahake, June 19).— tractors oh'N 6.3 level extended drive further distance of 11° feet,' making a total of 114 feet.. A hard bar 'of country came in, but they are through it now,' and into good country again. •New. Monster (Te Aroha, June 19).— Drive has been extended a distance of seven feet. During latter part of week a marked improvement has taken place in nature of ground. Total distance driven 38 feet. •Pride • of _ Hauraki (Coromandel).—Low level now going in to intersect new leader, further extended seven feet; total' distance 164 feet. No material change.' Adelaide - (Thames, June ; 19).-In the north drive on the' Adelaide reef good pro* Kress continues to be made. The reef here is small at present, but no doubt it will give out as soon as the Duke reef is met with. Sloping is being continued, and some nice dabs of gold are seen in quartz coming to hand.
Tamihana (The Wires, June 19).—The trench has now reached eastern boundary. No fresh lodes have been met with. Country rock on side of claim is of an excellent class. Albornia East (Thames, June 19).— Intermediate level driven north of main pass 14 feet on course of footwall of Vale of Avocareef. Lode in face and along back of drive averages from one to two feet. Cm ofGisbobne (Cabbage Bay, June 19). —No. 3 crosscut advanced 14 feet, and reef is in hand. It is composed of several parts divided-by country rock, altogether covering about seven feet. Quartz very similar to that in crosscut. The drive on big reef has been extended four feet for week, and shows three feet of quartz on footwall, Marco Polo (Whangamata).—Engaged putting a drive in for magazine. Quartz was met with at 170 feet, running parallel with drive. This, therefore, cannot be the lode sought for, but expect to cut it any time. Moanatairi North (Thames).— continued driving on main reef at low level. Reef continues to look remarkably well. It is about 18 inches thick, and colours of gold obtained by washing. Omega (Waitekauri, June IS).—Low level has been extended total distance of 175 feet. Ground is harder, and a network of quartz stringers running through hard blue sandstone. Surface level is in 79 feet; no change to report. Nil Desperandbm (Ohui.Tairua, June 17). —Am still sinking, and will open out for driving for reef by end of next week. SubInspector of Mines has given strict orders to timber shaft.
