The colouial Premiers yesterday visited Birmingham, where they were entertained at luncheon by the Lord Mayor, the Right Hon. James Smith, and received the heartiest welcome. Mr. Chamberlain, who was present, said if the colonies desired to share in the glorious 'responsibility of the empire, they would be met more than half way by the Imperial Government. If the colonies desired closer commercial relations they would be met in no huckstering spirit. The speech wu received with loud cheering. Messrs. Harmsworth, proprietors of the Daily Mail, gave a reception to the visiting Premiers. Among the artiste engaged were Paderewski, Madame Melba, and Ada Crossley. THE QUEEN RECEIVES THE PREMIERS. London, June 23. The Queen held an audience oa Monday night, when Mr. Chamberlain introduced the various Colonial Premiers and their wives. Her Majesty specially addressed & few words of conversation to each Premier. THE NAVAL REVIEW. The Premiers will view the naval review from the Admiralty yacht, and afterwards they will be entertained aboard the yacht; belonging to Mr. Charles Wilson, member for West Hull VISIT TO MR. GLADSTONE. The Premiers intend to pay a visit tl Mr. Gladstone at Hawarden. They have also authorised Mr. Reid to send a cable conveying their joint condolences to Mrs. Eddy on the death of her husband.
