The Northern Company's steamer Douglas arrived from Whangarei yesterday morning with a cargo of coal, and left fer the same place again in tbe evening. Yesterday the American barqu* Mary Hasbrouck finished discharging her cargo irom New York, which has ail turned out in • good order. To-morrow the barque Asia sails for Hokian pa. Early this morning the Northern Company's steamer Clansman arrives from ManHonui, Whangaroa, and Russell. The barque Wenona arrived at the Kaipara from this port yesterday to load timber for Luunceston. Yesterday the barque Broughton arrived at Lyttelton from Newcastle. The Norwegian barque Antares was berthed at the Railway Wharf yesterday to take in ballast. On Wednesday the schooner Queen, from Hokian«a to Auckland, was passed off Cape Karakara by the s.s. Otarama. The barquentine Jerfalcon, from Maiden Island, arrived ac Port Chalmers yesterday morning. This afternoon the Northern Company's steamer Chelmsford leaves for Tauranga and Onotiki. The Northern Company's steamer Bellinger leaves for Whangarei at half-past 10 o'clock to-night. At 9 o'clock to-night the Northern Company's steamer lona leaves for Kuaotunu, Mercury Bay, and Kennedy's Bay. Early this morning the Northern Company's steamer lona arrived from the Great Barrier, THE OTARAMA. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Otarama, Captain Clifford, arrived from London, via Teneriffe, yesterday morning, after an excellent voyage of 55 days. 'The steamer brings iv large cargo of general merchandise for this port, consisting of about 3000 tons, and includes a Quantity of mining machinery. The second officer reports: The Otarama left the Royal Albert Docks at LIE p.m. on April 1, and met with strong westerly winds and heavy seas across the Bay of Biscay. Teneriffe was reached at 7.43 a.m. on the 9th, and after taking in a supply ot bunker coal, the voyage was resumed at 6.10 p.m. the same date. The equator was crossed on the 16th, and light airs and calms prevailed to latitude 15" S, followed by fresh south-east trades to the Cape of Good Hope, which was passed on the 27th. Moderate to fresh northwest and south-east winds were experienced ■until reaching longitude 70 - , #hon a heavy south-west gale, accompanied by a tremendous sea, was met with; thence light northerly winds until sighting Eddystone Bock, Tasmania, on the 20th instant. Across the Tasman Sea light north-east winds prevailed. Cape Maria Van Diemen being passed at 7.13 a.m. on the 26th, and the harbour made at 7.45 a.m. on the 27th. Associated with Captain Clifford are the following officers : Chief. Mr. E. 8. Smith; second, Mr. E. G. Tosswill; third, Mr. M. G. Easton; fourth, Mr. A. C, Pearce; fifth, Mr. H. foster. The engine department is under the control of Mr. Aitken, who has with him Messrs. Evans, Jennings, and Myers, Messrs. McMillan and Patterson are the refrigerating engineers. On discharge the Otarama proceeds South to complete her loading for London. THE DILPUSSUND. The barque Dilpussuud arrived from Lyttelton, yesterday afternoon, with a cargo ot wheat. The vessel, which was recently purchased by Captain T. Richards ou behalf of himself and others, for the intercolonial trade, is a strong-looking vessel- She is a composite vessel, and was built by C. Langley, of London, in 1864, her dimensions being: Length, 171 feet; beam, 29'1 feet; depth, 177 feet.
