AN EFFICIENT BAND.

[BT TELRORAFII.— PRBSS ASSOCIATION.] Inveroargill, Monday. The Garrison Band, which returned from the contest in Melbourne this evening, had a warm reception. The City Band played them from the station to the Rotunda, where tho Mayor addressed them and congratulated the bandsmen on the measure of success achieved under adverse circumstances. It appears that the members were nearly all prostrated on the outward passage, and had only a few hours to set themselves up before talcing pare in the content. They lost heavily on the first night's selection, but equalled the winning band in the others, and also in the march.
