VALEDICTORY AT KAIWAKA.
A farewell sooial was given to Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Littin, by a number of their friends, on April 2, in commemoration of their departure from Kaiwaka, where they have resided for a period of more than thirty years, during which time they have succeeded in making a good farm and a comfortable home for themselves. In future they intend to locate themselves in the neighbourhood ol Kamo, to test the efficacy of the mineral waters of that district. Like many auothei settler of long standing, hard wort and exposure during the earlier years of his colonial career, have sorely affected a naturally good constitution, which, it is ti fie regretted, is now no stranger to the pain. ul and crippling effects of sciatica. The entertainment was held in the schoolhouso, and was well attended. After a very enjoy, able tea had been partaken of, Mr. John Curtis occupied the chair, and alluded to the length of time Mr. and Mrs. Ljttin had been residents at Kaiwaka, to the industry and energy of the worthy couple, etc, Mr. Littin feelingly replied, and thanked the company for the very kind expression of good will so largely shown. Mrs. Littin als« bespoke her acknowledgments. Dancing was then indulged in, which was varied at times by the introduction of some good sing* ing, the music being supplied by Mrs. W. Stewart! and Mr, John Clark. Before separating, the whole company testified their appreciation by according three ringing cheers to Mr. and Mrs Littin.-{Own Correspondent.]
