SOUTH AFRICAN AFFAIRS.
CLOSING OF THE VAAL RIVER
DRIFTS.
Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Capetown, April 7. Sir G. Sprigo, the Premier, declined to produce in the Cape Parliament the letters which passed between the Cape and the Imperial Government regarding the closing of the drifts on the Vaal river in 1895 by the Transvaal authorities. He expresses the opinion that their production would not tend to promote peace.
