THE CALCULATING BOY.
Dudley Wyati, the calculating boy, is at present in Auckland, and is announced in our advertisement columns to give a public exhibition for three nights only in the City Hall of his remarkable powers. The mathematical gift, which he possesses in a wonderful degree, is exceedingly rare in one so young. He is said to perform the most abstruse calculations mentally with an ease and celerity that bafflo all explanation; Nothing in the way of figures, says one press notice, comes amiss. Anyone tfho wants to know how long it, will take a man to go 100| leagues and f of a furlong at the rate of 12| feet in 11| seconds, allowing that lie rests for 10J second? in every 2£ minutes, has only to ask this chubby infant and he will, get th'e required information almost before he has done speaking. This youngster is accompanied by the celebrated Georgia Magnet, whose performances in London a few years ago created so much interest, and she is also announced to give an exhibition' of her peculiar and puzzling powers. The entertainment is certainly a novel one, and promises to create a lively interest. ...
