WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.

[BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN correspondent.] Wellington, Friday, MINISTERIAL MOVEMENTS. The Hon. J. Carroll left here this morn« ing for Gisborne. WELLINGTON CONCILIATION BOARD.

The Government, in reply to a requisition from the Board, deolined to direct the law officers ot the Crown to advise that body in respect to an action to be taken against it in connection with the election of Mr. J. C. Jones. It will be in the recollection of your readers that the solicitor to one of the trades unions was instructed to nominate a member named, Warner, but.he nominated Mr. J. Q. Jones instead. The effect was to lose the election of Warner by one vote. The election was stated to be illegal, and an action was at once threatened, The Government are advised that it would be improper to direct the law officers to "advise" a "judicial body" which the conciliation is held to be within the meaning of the statute.

AN INTERESTING WEDDING. The following paragraph, taken from tho evening paper, cannot fail to interest your readers. The parties are all Auckland folk, although at present resident in other parts of the colony:-" Mr. W. Morlay, of Briscoe, MacNeil, and Co.'s staff, eldest son of the Rev. W. Morley, of Christchurch, was married to-day to Miss Helen Bridson, second daughter of Mr. W. Bridson, formerly Registrar of the Native Land Court, Wellington. The ceremony took place at the residence of the bride's father, Adelaide Road, the bridegroom's father officiating. The honeymoon is to be spent in Auckland." A JUSTICE OP THE PEACE AMEND-

MICNT ACT. It is stated upon what is generally accepted as good authority in connection with new legislation, that the Government) will next session introduce a Bill to divide the colony into distriots, and authorise for each district the election of Justices of the Peace.

THE POLITICAL CAMPAIGN. Mr. Duthie has received an invitation to address the electors of Hawera, and will comply with the requisition on Tuesday next, when ha will reply to tho statements made by tho Colonial Treasurer ab New Plymouth.

THE GOVERNMENT PRINTER. There is a good deal of speculation horo as to the appointment to this office, The contention is that the duties of the office are of such a technical character that the new Government printer should be found among the present officers of that establishment. Others consider that the office should be filled from outside, so as to give the Government the widest field for tho selection of a suitable man.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR.

The Hineraoa upon hor arrival here will return to Auckland to convey Lord and Lady Glasgow and suite to the seab of Government for the session of Parliament, which will meet on the 11th June.
