SIR R. STOUT AND THE PREMIER.
[ [by TELEGRAPH, own correspondent.] Wellington, Monday, The following lefctor appears in the Evening Post" To the Editor. Sir, notice that the Premier lias again dealt with the employment of Chinese at Round Hill. I have already stated that I know nothing of such employment till I read the telegraphod report of the Premier's speech at Hokitika. It appears now the employment was more than a year ago. At that time Mr. Evans was in charge, a manager appointed by the directors in England, and directly responsible to them. The Hon, Mr. Laniach, Mr. White, and myself were but a local committee, and wo had no power to control Mr. Evans in his manago ment. I wired Mr. Larnach this morning whether he knew of any Chinese beint* employed, and have just now received his reply, that ho had no knowledge, and that I I)ad no knowledge of such employment. J do not think it necessary to say moro. The Premier s methods and assertions are valued at a proper figure by those who know Mr. beddon. Unfortunately for the reputation of this colony the figure is not high, and perhaps still more unfortunately for this colony Mr. Seddon has no reply to the grave charges of the violation of tiio law and of political corruption I brought against his .Ministry, save only that the Round Hill Company employed six Chinaiuen. To this depth of degradation has a pseudo-Liberal Ministry fallen. - I am, etc., Robert Stout."
